Love Me Last

Formed in 2006 in Victoria, Texas, Love Me Last began as an acoustic project consisting of brothers John Paul and George Michael Ortiz. George’s passion for drawing, songwriting and poetry was fused with John Paul’s love for singing and guitar playing that helped form a truly distinct combination.
Performing as a solo act John Paul brought to life the poetic workings of his brother George Michael, reworking his poetry into musical compositions.
Inspirations such as Elliott Smith, HIM, Jeff Buckley, Eric Clapton, City and Colour, Hank Williams, Allison Krauss, David Ruffin, The Temptations, Michael Jackson and countless others helped influence the sounds of Love Me Last.
After the 2010 EP debut release of “Sorrow Filled Skies” the pair would embark on different ventures for a period of time, leading to a prolonged hiatus.
Coming back to music after many years away,
John Paul is now continuing the musical legacy of Love Me Last, by retaining the stage name : with performances now as a solo act, duet duo, and with musical guest collaborations. You can find live performances in the South Texas vicinity and beyond: performing at markets, bars, private events, wineries, distilleries, breweries, festivals and more.
During his live performances John Paul covers a variety of styles/genres worked in mellow acoustic renditions: Classic/Modern Country, Folk, Singer-Songwriters, Classic Rock, 90’s alt, Pop and Motown, and many other genres to list!
